Your grid-connect solar power system harvests light power through the panels and creates AC power through an inverter. This reduces your power consumption during daylight hours and sends any spare power back to the grid to be shown as a credit on your bill.
Cola Solar offers a range of different sizes and types of grid-connect systems to help meet your budget and to get the best return on your investment.
With our showroom and head office based in Bendigo, we also provide solar power throughout regional Victoria including to Ballarat, Echuca and Shepparton plus all smaller towns.
Hybrid Solar Power
Instead of always sending spare AC power back to the grid, this system stores spare DC power in batteries and converts it back to AC so you can use it in your property when your panels aren’t working – at night, or when it’s very cloudy, or even if there’s a power outage.
In summer with a correctly designed system your batteries will often be fully charged. Spare power will then go to the grid to be shown as a credit on your bill. In winter it can be cost-effective to top up your batteries overnight if you have an off-peak tariff.
A hybrid system doesn’t give you complete freedom from the grid, but does enable you to use the grid merely as a backup or top-up device, in much the same way that a generator would be used.
This is for properties without a connection to the grid. Cola Solar has a specialist department which firstly takes a brief from you to determine exactly the size and type of system needed to suit your needs and how little maintenance you’d prefer to do.
An off-grid system generally uses fewer panels with larger battery storage than the hybrid system. Sophisticated electronics and programming ensure long battery life and overall high efficiency while minimising the amount of back-up needed from a generator even when there are several consecutive cloudy days in winter.
